Monitoring Electron Microscope Usage

Logsentry for Monitoring Electron Microscope Usage

Cothi Technologies launches Logsentry, the innovative solution to monitoring and reporting usage of capital equipment such as scientific instruments or other shared apparatus.

Logsentry Monitor is a PC based system that can monitor and control the usage of up to 250 separate items of equipment. It restricts the use of any particular item to authorised personnel for specific periods. Every usage of the equipment is recorded in a database, which is then used by Logsentry Reporter to creating reports using SQL.

These reports can then be used as a basis for billing outside users, for recording downtime (Planned or Breakdown) and for ensuring normal usage is kept within agreed limits.

Any equipment usage can be analysed for user department, group or project over any specified time.

All current users are displayed on a web page, which is useful the administrators of a large or split site.

Special requirements in terms of software can be easily accommodated.

The first application for the Logsentry is in the Department of Materials, University of Oxford, England where it is monitoring and reporting on the usage of 19 electron microscopes.
